Author Biography
Reinhard Kopanski studied musicology, media studies and political science in Bonn; he received his doctorate in musicology in 2019 from the University of Siegen, Germany. He is currently working on his research project “Music, Religion and Politics” (German Research Foundation, DFG, 2022–25) at the University of Siegen. His articles have been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Metal Music Studies; Journal for Religion, Film and Media and Samples, as well as in the online version of the German academic music encyclopedia Die Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart (MGG). His professional experience includes pedagogical work as a lecturer in Bonn and Cologne and freelance work in audio production. His most recent publication is Bezugnahmen auf den Nationalsozialismus in der populären Musik. Lesarten zu Laibach, Death In June, Feindflug, Rammstein und Marduk (Muenster: Waxmann, 2022).
